The Elizabethan spy, playwright and author of Doctor Faustus and The Jew of Malta, Christopher Marlowe, will be the subject of three films due for release next year. The first - Marlowe - concerns the theory that Marlowe was a ghostwiter for Shakespeare and may star Johnny Depp as Marlowe and Jude Law as the writer's friend and possibly lover - Thomas Walsingham. The second film - Dead Man in Deptford - focuses on his activities as a spy and conspiracy theories surrounding his death. Apparently Rufus Sewell is tipped to play Marlowe. Vainglory promises to be the most direct of the three and will be focusing on the theory that Marlowe was gay.
