Last Saturday in Cannes was filled with people trying to blag their way into just two parties. Austin Powers' mega beach bash fell was relegated to Sunday League when news of Empire's ultra exclusive tenth birthday bash got out. Set high in the hills above the town the cream of the film industry were whisked up to the exclusive villa in a fleet of Empire people carriers. A mere two hundred lucky guests were invited to the James Bond-esque hill top location patrolled by deadly looking security guards. Empire's founding Editor delivered a rousing speech before current editor Ian Nathan cut a cake the size of a beach towel with a sword. In addition to the higher echelons of the film industry guests included Jon Bon Jovi, Lock Stock's Nick Moran, and Trainspotting's Kevin McKidd.
