At what point, we wonder, does a dead horse get flogged so much that it miraculously comes back to life and gallops on its merry way. Such New Testamental reanimation must be what the creators of the new Highlander animated series have in mind, since the franchise they're hoping to run with has clearly been propping up the daisies for quite some time now. Contrary to good sense (and probably several public safety laws) the decision has been made to squeeze the last few drops from this series, last responsible for that straight-to-video wonder, Highlander: Endgame. Let's forget for a moment that there's already a fifth film in the works (Highlander: The Source, due to begin production later this year) and skip right to the part where a full-length animated feature is greenlit to introduce yet another immortal Scot (it's a wonder anyone ever actually dies in that country) from the 16th century who battles others of his ilk in modern day America. The more persistent Highlander fans among you may well point out that there's already been an animated series but rest assured that this latest incarnation (to be animated by Madhouse of Japan) will be unconnected. The only good news? The script is being written David Abramowitz, the man behind the better-than-average Highlander television series
