We may not get the film until next month in the UK, but Bong Joon Ho's Parasite has quickly become one of the most acclaimed films competing for awards. And now, if the director and Vice/Succession's Adam McKay have their way, it'll become a miniseries on HBO.

Parasite follows the poor but cunning Kim family as they ingratiate themselves into the lives of their wealthy employers, the Parks. A blend of genre thriller and a look at class warfare, it has won a batch of awards and seems set to join the list of Best Picture nominees at the Oscars, which are due to be announced Monday.

HBO won a bidding war against the likes of Netflix for the rights to the miniseries, which Bong and McKay will work on, and will be in English compared to the original's Korean. There is no information yet on whether the series will adapt the film's story, or be a new story that follows it. We're hoping it leans more towards the latter.

The film will be out here on 7 February.
