Birdman Is The Big Winner At The Critics' Choice Awards

Birdman-Big-Winner-Critics-Choice

With all the excitement (and no little disappointment) of the Oscar nominations out of the way early yesterday, it was the turn of the Critics’ Choice Awards in the evening. And in their much more egalitarian way, there were chances for more actors and movies to take home prizes. Still, Birdman and Boyhood scooped the biggest haul between them.

And while it offered Michael Keaton not one, but two opportunities to collect an acting gong – for both Best Actor and Best Actor In A Comedy – there were some welcome balances, such as The Lego Movie as Best Animated Feature and even a couple of awards for Guardians Of The Galaxy. Sadly for Selma, there was to be no counterbalance to the Oscar snubs.

Here’s the complete list of winners. While the Critics’ Choice can sometimes be seen as a pointer towards Oscar glory – think of Spike Jonze’ screenplay award for Her last year – it’s still looking like Birdman and Boyhood are the movies to beat.
