Ever wanted to feel like you’re at a Beastie Boys concert? Ever been to a Beastie Boys concert? Then you’ll like Awesome: I Fuckin’ Shot That, which takes a new approach to the concept of a gig film.

Awesome was directed by Beastie Adam Yauch, aka MCA, and is composed of footage shot by fans during an October 2004 event at Madison Square Gardens. Digital cameras were handed out to 50 fans at the sold-out event, to get 50 different perspectives on the gig.

"Some kid put up video from his phone at eight frames a second," said Yauch, inspiring his low-res video/high-quality audio vision for the project. None of the 50 cameras was lost to fans, admitted the rapper, "but granted, we took their driver's licenses." ThinkFilm will distribute the documentary around the world after touring the festival circuit.
