As one of the films to make a splash at this weekend's DC FanDome event, The Batman put itself back on the news radars in a big way, even given its Covid-driven production delay. And thanks to an announcement otherwise buried in a press release for the film during the event, Barry Keoghan is part of the cast.

The release mentions Keoghan joining Matt Reeves' film as Officer Stanley Merkel, who in the Batman comics is Commissioner James Gordon's first partner. Jeffrey Wright, of course, is playing the Commissioner, so we don't know whether Keoghan could appear in flashback, or whether it'll be some other iteration of the character.

With Reeves preparing to re-start work on the movie, Robert Pattinson is in the title role, with Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis all part of the ensemble. You can find the teaser released at DC FanDome below. And for more of what we learned during the virtual fan event, head here.

This would represent Keoghan hopping the comic book franchise fences, as he's playing Druig in Marvel's The Eternals, currently due out in February.
