Baldwin The Tank Engine

Alec Baldwin, star of The Hunt for Red October and Glengarry Glen Ross has signed a deal to become the narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine. He will voice 26 episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine And Friends for the US market. Baldwin has appeared in box office flops such as Mercury Rising and Heaven's Prisoners and was rumoured to be considering retiring from acting to become a politician. The stories will not, apparently, be altered to accommodate American sensibilities, but The Fat Controller will be known by his proper name, Sir Topham Hatt. (Presumably because he's actually quite svelte by American standards).
