Fox Searchlight has given the greenlight to David Talbert’s Baggage Claim, a romantic comedy that puts the ‘six miles high’ into ‘high-concept’.
Based on Talbert’s own 2005 novel, Baggage Claim will follow thirtysomething heroine, Montana Moore, a flight attendant who is so sick of her loveless life that she embarks on a 30-day series of flights across America in the hope of meeting Mr. Right.
Along the way, she encounters several stereotyp – erm, sorry, interesting and hilarious characters, including a politician, a tycoon, and a preacher. Does she find love, though? We’ll know for sure when Baggage Claim comes out next year! (Or you could just go onto Amazon, buy the novel and find out now… up to you, really.)
Talbert – whose debut movie, the Ice Cube-Tracy Morgan comedy First Sunday opens this weekend in the States – will write (shouldn’t that read, ‘has already written, honest!’?), produce and direct the movie which Fox hope to shoot this Spring, before the planned Actors’ Strike.
