Bet you can't guess what was the top of the US box office charts this weekend. Go on, you'll never guess… Yes, Jackie Chan's The Spy Next Door! Or… wait… we're hearing something about Avatar. Yes, the little film that could still can, and James Cameron's sci-fi epic earned $41.3 million this weekend, pushing its US total to nearly $500 million.
And as for the film's international box office? It's creeping closer to Titanic's $1.8 billion as Avatar has now crested $1.6 billion.
But that's not to say other films didn't manage to hack off their own chunk of the takings, with Denzel Washington's post-apocalyptic thriller **The Book Of Eli **managing an impressive $31.6 million for second place.
**The Lovely Bones **expanded wider and surged up the charts in its sixth week, earning $17.6 million. The rest of the charts looks much the same as last week… Except that The Spy Next Door crashed the party, landing at sixth place with a less-than-perfect $9.7 million.
