Amy Adams has signed on to star in Daughter Of The Queen Of Sheba, an independent drama based on the biography of NPR (National Public Radio) correspondent, Jacki Lyden.
Lyden was the first NPR female correspondent to go on-air following 9/11, and indeed headed for Afghanistan soon after. Since then, she’s had to report on the killing of her translator, by an American soldier, and she’s now working on a book about the secret lives of a group of Iraqi friends.
But the film will also focus, apparently, on how a woman uses her mother’s madness and delusions (hence the title, we’re saying) to empower herself.
So it seems to be quite a meaty role for Adams, who is doing a great job of mixing commercial films and weightier turns in indie dramas. This will follow hot on the heels of her heavily-touted turn in the forthcoming Doubt, which will itself be followed by a starring role in Night At The Museum 2: Battle Of The Smithsonian.
Daughter Of The Queen Of Sheba will be written by Karen Croner and produced by Susan Cartsonis and Matt Williams. No studio is yet attached.
