Ape Academy Review

Ape Academy

Like Nintendo’s hysterical WarioWare series, Ape Academy is a candy-coloured compilation of dumbass arcade games that require little thought or skill, but are perfectly suited to quick blasts of action between stops on the train to work. However, while the WarioWare packages deliver thrills at a lightning pace, the PSP’s lazy loading times mean the action is punctuated by monotonous pauses, draining any sense of fun from the experience.

Even worse, as the game was originally developed in Japan, many of the monkey-based jokes and characters have lost their appeal in translation, and the hairy heroes’ Western voices and ‘wacky’ personalities are more irritating than being stuck in a lift with Jade Goody and the Crazy Frog.
