Top cop Cowley (Gordon Jackson) sets ex-policeman Doyle (Martin Shaw) and hardman Bodie (Lewis Collins) loose on riff-raff. They do their job “by any means necessary” — leaping out of cars, leering at “birds”, and occasionally choking back manly tears. Sometimes, relishable camp; sometimes, surprisingly strong drama.
