The army seem to be getting pretty heavy-handed with people as well as the monster. Given the destruction we see, it's not surprising. It seems great swathes of the city have been destroyed. There could well be post-9/11 upsets in some parts of America over seeing skyscrapers toppled. Note the man in the bottom left corner of this image photographing events. We're saying this is a comment on man's detachment from the events of the world. We're deep like that.
