The Punisher

The Punisher
Review
Although most superhero games of the last ten years have been unmitigated trash, 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and X-Men Legends showed that developers are finally making adventures that capture the spirit of their inky incarnations. And in the case of The Punisher, this means brutal torture, sickening violence and a sense of humour as black as pitch.

Based on the comic book rather than the recent Hollywood flop — but with the big-screen Frank Castle, Thomas Jane, voicing the brooding antihero — The Punisher is a standard action game with the bullet-time polish of Max Payne and the interactive environments of Dead To Rights. But what sets The Punisher apart
is the ‘interrogation system’ that lets you grill suspects using objects scattered around the levels.

Want to know where the big boss is hiding? Simply hold one of his goons above a wood-chipper until he spills the beans… then drop him into the spinning blades anyway. Savagely sick fun.

This is a great game, needs a sequel though. I was well narked that the interrogations were toned down, as the game is an 18's and adults can decide for themselves. ... Read More

RE:

I loved this. I can't help but feel that, although the film was fantastic, it should have been more violent like the game.   Some of the ways you can kill people in this are inspired. From electric eels to sharks, right back to hungry anacondas and some extremely nasty machinary.   Awesome stuff. ... Read More

Excellent game. I'd give it an extra star for its originality and having the balls to make it a violent and gory as the comic dictates. Three guesses where EA got their idea for the game engine on The Godfather? ... Read More
