Zelda: The Wind Waker

Zelda: The Wind Waker
Review
After the revolutionary A Link To The Past on the dear old SNES and the peerless Ocarina Of Time on the 64, Nintendo’s new — and much troubled — console is finally graced by their marquee name: Zelda.

In The Wind Waker (those titles!), the now-established format of non-linear adventuring — wherein the tense dungeon adventures are perfectly balanced with the light relief of exploring charming towns — is closely adhered to, and there is little here that could be marked down as a major advance. Certainly, only the Japanese could think the controversial cartoon-style graphics look ‘cool’. But who cares? The most vividly-realised world and the most varied game-play of any title on any console, Zelda is a solid bet for the best game series ever, and The Wind Waker — although marginally easier than Ocarina Of Time — is a worthy successor.

Reason enough to buy a Gamecube, even if you already have a PS2.

this game got alot of stick when it was re-unveiled in its newfound cel-shaded style. people thought zelda had been turned into a kids game, but the graphics barely tarnished this masterpeice in the end; Mixing several different gameplay mechanics, stealth, puzzle, and some incredibly fun combat, last gens installment into the zelda series was gaming brilliance. fun environments, imaginative boss fights, a musical score that lived up to ocarinas and endless amounts of sidequests ranging from fu... Read More

One of the great games of all time. The cell graphics in this actually makes this the most expressive and visually stunning Zelda of all. There are moments of absolute beauty that bring to mind Hayo Miyazaki. The best Zelda ever!Even better than Ocarina.I have the best hopes for Twilight Princess, but It's a shame it doesn't continue the style of this ... Read More

RE: BEST GAME SERIES EVER!!!!!

This has to be the first Zelda that I have been dissapointed with since the legend of zelda 2 on the NES. I like the cel shading, I do not mind playing as a young version of link the fact is that nintendo had to rush this game to meet its deadline and they left out a few dungeons, you really can tell in the last quater of the game where you constantly find yourself sailing about in the clear , boring blue sea over and over again. Constantly using your wind waker to change the direction of ... Read More

BEST GAME SERIES EVER!!!!!
Empire User Rating

I have always loved the Zelda games and was a little bit cautious about this game as i wasnt sure of the animation style. BUT IT ROCKS. The game is a masterful blend of action, plot and graphics. I pity anyone who has never played this game YOU NEED TO BUY IT. And wih the New Zelda Game (Twilight Princess) Hopefully being released at the end of this year it looks like the series is going to remain on stong form. ... Read More
