Ultimate Ghosts ’N Goblins
Review With their endless continues, gentle learning curves and free-roaming environments that allow you to tiptoe around trouble, veteran players will argue that modern games are much too easy. But for a reminder of how tough coin-op adventures used to be, UGNG is an exasperating but compelling experience.
Revitalising Capcom’s garish franchise with luscious 3-D graphics — but sticking with the unforgiving platform action of old — it’s guaranteed to alienate younger players with its trial-and-error gameplay. But with levels perfectly suited to quick bursts of action, new armour classes that allow you to survive more hits and a myriad of hidden surprises, this slick update will delight anyone weaned on the bastard-hard 1985 original.
