Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Review
Although Call Of Duty 2 and Dead Or Alive 4 were delivered with style, imagination and flair, most 360 titles have been criticised for being virtually identical to old-school Xbox games, only with polished graphics. But if you’ve been waiting for a game that screams next generation, Advanced Warfighter is a jewel in the 360’s blossoming library.

Playing in a similar way to previous games in Ubisoft’s strategic series, where Advanced Warfigher most impresses is in terms of presentation; players are thrust into a sprawling, stylised vision of Mexico City that stretches as far as the eye can see, taking in crumbling shanty towns, high-rise financial districts and twisting residential streets. The lighting effects are also astounding, players being constantly blinded by scorching sunlight as they emerge from indoor locations into the dusty streets, while the game’s palette of washed-out colours and hazy visuals also help create the illusion that you’re battling in a region close to the equator.

The multiplayer modes are also bigger and better than before - including a delirious co-operative mode where you can team up with 15 mates against a computer-controlled guerrilla army - making Advanced Warfighter the most impressive Xbox 360 release to date.

Awesome, it's the best thing the 360 has to offer so far
Empire User Rating

Just looking at this game graphically, it truely is the future of gaming. The controls are slightly to complex to begin with, but after a few hours you'll be a natural soldier. The campaign mode is challenging and boasts some seriously new and most definitely improved ideas. Just the little touches such as your little screen on the top corner allowing you to see what the chopper or your team mates are looking at. This however isn't the games true merit. The multi-player on x-box live is truely... Read More

Current-gen with bells and whistles. Good though.
Empire User Rating

Solid game, but really just another current-gen title masquerading as 'next-gen'. I see that even the Empire reveiwer fell for the video-within-video and busy HUD tricks. Still, there's only so much you can do on a Microsoft console with a dual-analogue controller. Oh, and Full Spectrum Warrior is an awesome game; much tactically deeper than this. ... Read More
