24: The Game

24: The Game
Review
While many reviewers have been merciful to 24: The Game – focusing on its lush presentation and mixture of gaming styles to justify decent scores – most fans of the series will be horrified by this shoddy spin-off.

While everything you’d expect from 24 – including a twisting plot, international terrorism and a series of tense deadlines – are in place, the game tries too hard to capture all aspects of Jack Bauer’s adventures, wildly mixing genres but with little success; the driving sequences put you behind the wheel of cars that steer like rowing boats, the gunplay is offensively easy thanks to a simple lock-on targeting system, and the mini games used to simulate bomb disposals and computer hacking won’t pose any challenge for seasoned gamers.

Add to this unbelievably stupid enemies, a camera that can’t keep up with the action and graphics that look like something from a three-year-old PS2 title, and there’s not much left to entice 24 fans or gamers in general.

I really like the T.V show even if it becoming rather dry. The game was poor. Though the game had some decent parts it was very poor. The story was rubbish and the shooting was badly handled. The game would of been good if the story was good and the gameplay was not clunky akward. Hitman style shooting and GTA style driving would have made this excellent. At leat it slightly felt like a series of 24. ... Read More

Anyone with even a casual interest in the gaming press will know this isn't supposed to be exactly ground breaking. And it isn't. You get an average, yet enjoyably chunky third person shooter, some poor driving sequences and some annoying mini games. There are some fantastic set pieces, and being Jack Bauer is nearly as thrilling as you might have hoped, but it can't disguise some pretty shoddy gameplay. The story is satisfying although seems to recycle ideas from the show in a less innovative f... Read More

CTU! FEDERAL AGENT! ETC ETC.
Empire User Rating

c'mon, this is a 4 star game guys, im only rating it 5 stars because theres a whole button devoted to shouting 'CTU,' and 'FEDERAL AGENT,' which is more than enough for a seasoned 24 follower such as myself- the graphics are neat, the presentation is excellent, the driving is middle of the road (gettit?) but aqequate none the less, theres nothing wrong with the mini games and i think the shooting lock on system is excellent save close range- a decent game, that is excellent simply because i felt... Read More

The game appears to have taken little more than 24 hours to create. I am fairly upset at having parted with my hard-earned (ok then, earned). Thats all I have to say about this right now. ... Read More

The game in general feels rushed and unfinished. The Ai is awful as are some of the character models ( why dose chase look like a mutated ape?) Apart from the explosions there is no real pretty graphics. And one look at the bonus character model viewer will make people understand how little effort was actualy made. Gameplay wise its typical Sony...For reference see titles like primal and ghosthunter ... Read More

as a massive fan of the show i will be honest and say i am a bit dissapointed. its far too easy, i completed it after two days. plus its not long enough, it takes about 20 minutes gaming to get through an hour in the game. the plot is pretty good and it does fill in some blanks, and the driving bits are rubbish...... ... Read More

I disagree, while it has it's flaws I have found it to be very enjoyable and i was surprised at how good it was after reading negative reviews. I think the driving is good, I would say the sliding about adds more tension and urgency to it, and I also disagree about 24 fans being horrified, I'd say it's the fan's who would enjoy it the most. ... Read More
