Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening
Review Having spawned one of the worst sequels in console history, it looked like game over for Capcom’s super-stylish Devil May Cry. But in going back to the series’ roots and reinventing the sexy hero’s monster-mashing missions, the gaming gurus have created a slick adventure that’s sure to banish bad memories of the second instalment.
A prequel to the first game, DMC3 finds the coolest cat in video-games learning his craft; whereas Dante was a master of all trades in previous games, this time players can choose to develop his sword, gun or acrobatic skills at the start of each level, bringing a strong sense of strategy to the slaughter and giving you a chance to properly master the outrageous moves.
The stunning cinematics that bookend each level also enhance the experience by giving some background on the mysterious hero, but it’s the frantic, Matrix-style action that will have you hooked until the end.
