Methodical hitman Salvo (Bakri) goes looking for revenge when he and his mafia boss are ambushed by gangsters. The quest for payback is complicated by the beautiful blind girl (Serraiocco) who falls into his hands after a hit.
Set during a Palermo heatwave, this starts brilliantly, as mobster Saleh Bakri abducts a foe’s blind sister (Sara Serraiocco). But there’s less immersive Steadicam and sound effects work once Bakri’s purpose becomes blunted by his feelings for his hostage.
A sparse and languid Italian thriller that carries a debt to Melville.
