The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone
Shane Meadows romances the Stone Roses

Plot
As The Stone Roses prepare for their epochal gig at Manchester's Heaton Park, filmmaker and long-time fan Shane Meadows zooms in on the band's long-awaited reunion.

Review
The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone

Shane Meadow's love for Manchester’s baggiest sons of the ’90s is clear in every second of this eye-witness account of the band’s reunion tour last year. Starting with the announcement and climaxing with three shows at Heaton Park, it is a fly-on-the-wall travelogue with a difference: where most directors crave tension, Meadows is on tenterhooks throughout, terrified the band won’t make it to the finishing post. Made Of Stone somewhat brilliantly sees the individual moments and faces in the crowds, making this the best, most immersive concert film since Jazz On A Summer’s Day.

Verdict
The fly on this particular wall comes with his own baggy threads and Madchester t-shirts, but the results are no less magical for being shot through the eyes of a fan.
