Engaged couple Alexandra (Riley) and Jeremy (McNulty) are due to get hitched. The universe, however, has other ideas.
Co-written by Noel Clarke and directed by feature debutante Jesse Lawrence, this sub-Bridesmaids effort attempts to cater to the guys and the girls by following Talulah Riley’s bridal party and Matthew McNulty’s groom and his groomsmen separately during their big day. There’s some merit in that approach, but it also places the emphasis on the com rather than the rom — and that’s a problem when most of the hijinks and gross-out moments (mostly involving toilets and bottoms) just aren’t funny. It’s all so cartoonish that when the emotional beats finally do kick in, they simply fail to ring true.
A reminder of exactly how good Bridesmaids was, this British facsimile fails to replicate its charms or laugh count.
