Marley
Legend

Plot
Kevin Macdonald packs his camera and follows in the gentle footsteps of reggae's godfather, Bob Marley, in a documentary that takes in friends, family and musical collaborators.

Review
Marley
Everybody knows Bob Marley — a face on a T-shirt — but Kevin Macdonald’s documentary is the definitive cradle-to-grave bible on the man behind the phenomenon. Macdonald (The Last King Of Scotland), in collaboration with the Marley family, tracks down talking heads from Marley’s school teacher to the nurse at his death bed; no stone is left unturned. This epic, uplifting film takes us to the colourful heart of Jamaica, through American tours and on to Bob’s exile in London, revealing how Marley — father, player, leader — became the figurehead for the Rastafarian culture that accepted him and the “spiritual” music that to this day remains his legacy to the world. A testament befitting a legend.

Verdict
A masterful doc to rival Macdonald's Touching The Void.
