Plot
Bono and the boys take on the thrid dimension with this film from the Vertigo tour.

Probably the world’s finest live act, U2 have procured the latest 3-D technology for this splendid take on their recent Vertigo tour, treating us to robust versions of their most accessible songs.
Theatrical, political, emotional and absurdist, here is a band who feel nothing is beyond them. Mercifully, the directors treat the 3-D as tool rather than gimmick. We don’t get protruding guitar necks, but an astonishing depth of field capturing the electrifying hugeness of the U2 stadium gig, and the intimacy Bono finds with his gaga audience.
Not for this outing Rattle & Hum’s self-conscious intermissions, just U2 in their pomp putting other bands to shame.

| Breathless! The greatest experience i've had on the cinema. U2 rocks! They're the best rock band ever. Probably the greatest show on earth ever made! (Of course, since Woodstock and Kyliefever 2002 on Manchester) ... More | |

| U2 3D is the first concert film to be made using the latest digital 3-D technology. Its directors, Catherine Owens and Mark Pellington, had all the latest tricks of the trade at their disposal – and more cameras than the Edge has guitars. The closing concerts of the Vertigo Tour in South America provided a hundred hours of footage, which was boiled down to the best 85 minutes. The film successfully creates the impression that you are on the stage or surrounded by a frenzied audience. Quite... More | |

| If you like or love U2 you have to see this is it is awsome! `ve never had the chance to see them live but I would say this is the next best thing. With the surround sound and stunning 3D visuals with Bono reaching out to you its just amazing. This is the future of concert films the way to see them. It also looks like the crowd in 3D are with you too (I was in the front row!) Go see. 5/5. ... More | |

| L: tomhemingwaycom This film has a lot to live up to. They are one of the greatest live acts, have a great variety of songs to choose and people want to see the best possible use of 3-D. The first thing wrong with it is that the sound was too quiet and it felt like you could have really watched on a home cinema system on your sofa rather than going to the movies to see it. The concert has a great choice of songs but the band have seemed to rely on the 3-D too much which loses the energy of... More | |

| Just got back from seeing this with my friend. What a fabulous experience it was. The 3D effects were simply stunning and created the most cystal clear image ive ever seen on screen. It was like being at the concert myself and i could not fault it one bit. The crowd interaction and enthusiasm definitely added to the whole experience as well. What made it that little bit special was due to the lateness of the showing there was noone else at the screening except my friend and... More | |

| Saw this at Waterloo last night and thought it was fabulous. I was in the Heart at Slane and this was almost as good! OK, Bono's a drama queen but that's expected and Edge was so close I almost offered him a bit of my sandwich. The crowd was incredibly "real" (even if Argentinian girls don't shave their armpits;) We got a Dinosaur trailer first which was pretty scary. ... More | |

| I quite like U2, but wouldn't consider myself a fan. I did like this film of their wee Argentinian gig, though. You'd have no chance of getting so near to the band even as a VIP ticket holder! There were a few seasick moments with over-choppy editing which detracted from the lovely 3D-ness quite badly, but overall, unless you really loathe U2, it's worth your fiver just for a look at the new technology. When used well, it was actually quite intimate and realistic, better than most concert foota... More | |

| Going to see this at IMAX tomorrow night. I look forward to seeing what effect the 3D has. We can all argue about who the greatest band is until the cows come home and never agreee. I would say though, that seeing U2 at Slane Castle back in 2001 was probably the best live concert I had ever been to certainly equalling seeing Led Zep at the Albert Hall and more recently Springsteen at the O2. ... | Empire love U2! That's almost as big a shock as them giving whatever crap Lucas next farms out at least 4 stars, well initially anyway before they start there now famous back paddling with the old chesnut of "one person opinion, yadda, yadda, yadda". I'm sure if Dirty Harry read this he'd say "Opinions are like arseholes..... and so are most of the reviewing staff at Empire". I'll give Empire this though they maybe predictable but always good for a chuckle and inciting a mini... More | |

| I saw them live in Chicago in 2005, and brought the dvd for that concert. But too be honest you had to be there, the dvd is fantastic, but its obviously better if your there. You can only really judge if you have seen them live. So people stop saying "oh these are better" blah, blah, blah. You have no opinion on this until you go see them live. ... More | |
