Little Caesar (PG) Plot The rise and fall of a vicious gangster modelled on Al Capone. Review This creaks a little more than the 1932 Scarface but Mervyn LeRoyís entry in the early talkie gangster genre still has much to enjoy.
Edward G. Robinson attacks the lead role with impressive, career-making relish, there are some superbly executed set-pieces and the dialogue crackles right up to the immortal dying words: "Mother of mercy, is this the end for Rico?" Verdict Techincally dated but moves fast enough to maintain interest over 70 years later.
