The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Sex! Songs! Cross-dressing! Transylvania!

Plot
A young couple get lost and stumble across a mad transvestite doctor from the planet Transsexual. He is in the midst of unveiling Rocky Horror (Hinwood), a humanoid creation who unfortunately spurns the doctor's advances, much to his annoyance...

Review
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Pretty much the grandaddy of all cult films, 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' became more of an interactive event than a stand- alone movie very soon after its release.

American college kids, gripped by a desire to leap into the 'don't dream it, be it' ethos of the mid '70s, got dragged up and generally horrified their parents, and, in doing so, transformed the movie into a hit, albeit a belated one.

Detached from the historical hoopla, you'd expect the film to be a bit on the time-withered side, but in fact it's stood the test of over a quarter of a century pretty well. The tunes are as loopily catchy as ever, Sharman's direction is zippy and the movie looks much bigger than the £1.5 million it cost.

But the powerhouse of the film is Tim Curry's cross-dressing alien, Frank N. Furter, who would never reach these kinds of gloriously demented heights again.

Extras

Rocky Horror Picture Show Rocky Horror Picture Show
Released: 18 October 2010
Standard commentary courtesy of Richard O’Brien and Patricia Quinn, plus trailers, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, outtakes, alternate endings and a very good ‘making of’ documentary. Things then get pretty unhinged with a ‘Multi-View Theater Experience’, in which the movie cuts to shots of audience participation at key moments, as well as a ‘participation prompter’ which provides subtitles such as ‘Throw rice now!’

Verdict
Simply a cult classic. See it once and laugh about it at dinner parties for the rest of your adult life. Or go along to the interactive viewings, dress up, and sing along. It's your call.

I know everyone has already said this, but: this really is a cult classic. Tim Curry's performance is unforgettable as are the songs, characters and glitzy style of it all. No one will forget this ... More

This is a awful muscial, where was the storyline?! The songs were terrible, characters were annoying and the ending sucked majorly. I may be one of a few that hated this film but I wouldn't dare watch this pile of crap ever again. ... More

This deserves to shown at better times than midnight.

I hadn't had a chance to catch up with this move before last night when I caught it at the horrendous time of 1am. It deserves better than to be shown at that time of night. It is a fantastic piece if film making, Catchy songs, sharp humour and a story which is as brilliant as it is ridiculous. Everyone should see this at least once, even if they don't like musicals. ... More

Classic

The songs, the dances, Tim Curry all mixed together to make a brilliant cult classic. I remember watching this with my older brother several years ago and thinking "this is something special" - Though, the only thing you wont catch me doing is dressing up and going to a interactive showing - that's going too far - but for a night in - or some songs for your MP3 player - Choose Rocky Horror every time!! ... More
