The Making Of The Return Of The Jedi

submit to reddit

J. W. Rinzler’s trilogy is the high-water mark of ‘making of’ books, and the Jedi edition is a joy. Rinzler is great on must-share trivia — Alan Rickman auditioned for Admiral Jerjerrod, Harrison Ford made giant tacos for the crew — but also doesn’t shirk serious stuff, from the tensions at ILM to doubts about Ewoks. Throw in a great Brad Bird intro and stunning unseen images and this, unlike the film it meticulously details, is a trilogy finale to match its forebears.
