Bond On Set: Filming Skyfall

Review For Bond On Set: Filming Skyfall, photographer Greg Williams was granted impressive access to every stage of production, and his photos prove a sometimes lovely mix of the intimate (how they laughed!) and the lordly (see Skyfall Lodge engulfed in orange flames), but its pleasures are short-lived. The text amounts to leaden: Ronseal picture captions and slivers of the script, monotony soon kicks in. Here is Daniel Craig getting into the Aston Martin, here he is climbing out of the Aston Martin, now laughing, now running in silhouette, now relaxed, now training in his trackie bottoms... Wait, isn’t that producer Michael G. Wilson and production designer Dennis Gassner giving us a smile during the read-through? Mr. Williams, you are indulging yourself. Reviewed by Ian Nathan
