LA’s Gallery 1988 has had a major impact as the home of Crazy 4 Cult – an annual exhibition which brings together some of the finest pop artists in the world, gives them a unifying theme (movies) and lets them run riot. The astounding results veer from cutesy (E.T.’s moon shot re-imagined with an Alien) to the surreal (any of the Pee-Wee Herman stuff), and most of the greatest hits are gathered in this essential book.
