Review

Of Bergman, Thomson sums up her presence in Casablanca as “gazing at a lamp in the darkness”. He then deadpans she was rarely shot from behind as “she struggled with her figure”. He also studies her ‘fall’ out of Hollywood after an affair with Roberto Rossellini, but always drives you back to the films.
