The Boxer A stark picture of The Troubles painted on a personal canvass.

Plot Danny Flynn (Day-Lewis) is separated from his sweetheart for 14 years for being involved in IRA terrorist activity. When he gets out he finds she is married with a child, though her husband has also gone away for "The Cause", what ensues is the tale of a man trying to rebuild his life in the face of so many contemporary pressures. Verdict In spite of Sheridan's directing "shorthand" and too sweet "love conquers all" message, the two main performances make the film great and resonant.
