Plot
Following the lives of two Chinese boys as they grow up in the early 20th century, learning to be performers in their beloved opera house. As the two mature one falls in love with the other, who then goes on to marry a woman, but despite this their friendship remains strong, with the opera they perform echoing their real lives.
