In an unnamed Islamic country and unnamed Muslim woman (Farahani) tends patiently to her wounded, catatonic husband (Djavadan). The arrival of a young soldier (Mrowat) complicates her already troubled life.
Co-writer Jean-Claude Carrière was Buñuel's screenwriter and this stark story of a life at odds with a society's laws bears the hallmarks of his earlier work. The material is given suitable punch by the outstanding Farahani.
