Burke & Hare Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis go a-killin'...

Plot Edinburgh, 1825. Dr Knox (Tom Wilkinson) needs cadavers for anatomy lectures and ne’erdowells William Burke (Simon Pegg) and William Hare (Andy Serkis) need to dispose of the remains of a lodger who has died in the boarding house owned by Mrs Hare (Jessica Hynes). Knox wants more bodies and Burke wants money to impress an actress (Isla Fisher), so the duo set out to procure corpses by any means necessary. Verdict Against all the odds, it’s surprisingly educational about a blood-spattered page in medical history even if it whitewashes the truly despicable title duo (Hare, in particular, was one of the worst villains who ever drew breath). It’s generally entertaining, with enough funny, ingenious bits to outweigh the shit-thrown-out-of-window gags.
