Plot Following a heist, professional thief Doug MacRay (Affleck) keeps tabs on bank manager Claire Keesey (Hall), the only witness who could identify MacRay’s gang. As the couple slowly fall for each other and FBI agent Adam Frawley (Hamm) closes in on him, McCray begins to question the life he leads.
Verdict The Town is that rare beast, a grown-up genre flick, chock-full of compelling character dynamics and a clutch of pitch-perfect performances. It also proves that Gone Baby Gone was no fluke, and confirms Ben Affleck (yes, Ben Affleck) as a major director in the making.
