Late-19th century Australia, and Cpt. Stanley (Winstone) has captured the younger two siblings of the notorious Burns brothers. With them in custody he offers middle brother Charlie (Pearce) a deal: head into the outback to kill older brother Arthur (Huston), and the youngest (Richard Wilson) won’t be hanged.
Brutal, bloody and brilliant, this is superior filmmaking, and more evidence of the renaissance of the Australian film industry. One of the finest movies of the year so far.
