Singin' In The Rain

submit to reddit

Plot
A couple of silent movie stars are forced to make the switch to sound but the beautiful female lead has a voice that could cut glass...what can they do?

Review
The most enjoyable 102 minutes you’ll ever encounter in a cinema, Singin’ In The Rain is dazzling in its perfection: from the innocent exuberance of Kelly, O’Connor and Reynolds, to the clutch of great songs (Make ‘Em Laugh, You Are My Lucky Star and the immortal title tune), from the stunningly simple staging of the dance numbers to the wit of the screenplay, the story of silent movie stars adapting to the sound era is shot through with a cleverness and sophistication rare for the genre.

With so many films dedicated to the agonies of filmmaking, Singin’ overflows with the pleasure of movie creation, stitching together references to Hollywood history with more alacrity than Tarantino. One of the highpoints of hoofin’ history but, more importantly, an unadulterated joy.

Verdict
A little gem. Because of the enduring fame of the dancing in the rain scene, we often forget how sublime the rest of this musical rom-com is.

tp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045152/?ref_=nv_sr_1]Singin` In The Raintill one of the best musicals of all time. Lovely songs with great choreography and it`s a joy to watch. A great hommage to (silent) film and the Broadway musical. The picture quality of the blu-ray is so-so. It`s restored beautifully and it`s free of any kind of damage. But at times, too often, it looks too flat. It doesn`t really jump off your screen. It felt that Warner could`ve done more with this than what we see now... ... More

A Gleaming Musical, Easily One of the Best

Singin' in the Rain is a faultless example of sheer, brilliant entertainment. Everything, from the injcredible musical numbers (with Singin' in the Rain and the Broadway Melody particular showstoppers), to the pitch-perfect performances combine to make one of the best musicals ever made. This is a unforgettable classic. ... More
