Medical students go wild! Avoid...

submit to reddit

Who can commit the perfect murder? That's the question each one of a group of medical students will attempt to answer as they engage in a deadly game...

Browse more images »

Dr Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia) lands an internship in a prestigious morgue, and starts hanging around with maniac genius cutup Dr Jake Gallo (Michael Weston). Jake gets involved in medical student pranks, whereby everyone in the clique murders someone useless and challenges the others to work out how they did it.
The gang also smoke crack while performing after-hours autopsies and shag each other among the corpses – pretty extreme even by Carry On Nurse standards of medical behaviour.
This far-fetched, lurid thriller treads weakly in the tracks of the German Anatomie movies, but keeps tripping over plotholes, as if two hours of deleted scenes once explained things. A lot of corpses get carved up through modelwork or CGI, but cat-and-mouse suspense is jettisoned by a script which quickly gives up cleverness to concentrate on butchery.

This puppy is just too deformed to survive long in theatres. Best to put it out of its misery.

Dull And Predictable As Clockwork

After a startling and somewhat disturbing shaky-cam intro, Pathology seemed to be starting on a strong and interesting note. Unfortunately, the 'thrills' start and end here. The movie is terribly acted and contains some of the most unconvincing and unintentionally hilarious performances for a long time. The story feels confused and slapdash, yet wholly predictable and totally unexciting. Frankly, Pathology is an absolute mess that's about as much fun as being dissected, and nowhere near as scary... More

Loved it!

I deliberately didn't read any reviews before I watched this film and I'm glad I didn't. I admit that the story line is a bit far fetched, but isn't that what we look for in films? Something that we know could never happen but secretly think about what it would be like if it did. I think this film is fantsticly gorey and everything you could want in a thriller/horror. Lots of bodies, blood, guts and a clinically insane character who is the master mind behind the story. It evokes lots of emo... More

Sick And Boring.

I saw this last night, though there are no really big names starring it's very poor. As the film starts, it gets good with plenty of body bits and opening dead bodies but then it gets really silly and really boring. It's repetable, killing unknowns, guessing how they killed them, taking drugs and having sex by the dead bodies. Nice. You don't really root for anyone in this, the only people I knew was Milo Ventimgilia from Heroes and Alyssa Milano from Charmed. It ended weridly too, not really ex... More

Disspointing and unbelivable

The whole idear of Pathology. was one which intruged me. a mixture of murder, dectectsion and horror. However the film has got no depth or proper story arch to it..I was left feeling robbed og a good movie, and did not care less about any of the characters in it. The was no prpoer scares or jump mommensts at all. I The concept that this new student would just go along with a group of other good looking studnets on a killing spee was totally not belivable at all. This movie in the hands of a... More

i gotta stop reading empire review prior to watching a movie

ok, i saw this film last night. I had missed any reviews about this film and i saw a trailer once, so i kind of had an idea of what it was about. anyway's, i enjoyed it. It's a ludicrous idea, but i thought it was worked well as a dark, violent thriller. anyway's thats not my point, my point is, if i'd read the empire review beforehand, there's a good chance i never would have watched this film. I know it's pretty narrow to take judgement from someone else, but you can't help but be put... More

RE: Terrible

Average stuff which was only bumped up by the rather unique plot. It all felt rather dirty though I think this was what was tryinh to be conveyed. The villain guy was very good I thought, really looked the part. Saying that some of the plot was dumb as fuck, in particular the fact that someone managed to survive something which would have done them in and a final revelation which kinda thmeatically made sense but was a massive fucking strech. ... More

RE: Terrible

I've watched a lot of bad films in the cinema, but for the first time ever I was honestly tempted to walk out of a film after just five minutes - around 20 people in my screening did though. I just kept thinking, it can't be this bad, it has to get better. The most ludicrous pile of shit I've ever watched. Any plot that it has to it's name goes out the window after fifteen minutes. The script is shocking, there's no character development and the acting is atrocious. All the chara... More

A film populated almost entirely by the most constantly irritating people I've ever seen in one film. The only two things I liked about it were the presence of John De Lancie (but you can just watch him as Q in Star Trek) and Milo's rather lovely bottom (but you might as well wait for the DVD for that). Otherwise ludicrous, pointless, and badly written and acted. ... More

Not as bad

I watched this film last night for a bit of light entertainment, at the end of the day thats all it is. i fully understand the sloppyness of the storyline and far fetched antics that they get upto. However this is entertaining. Average at the least. If you want to see truely bad films this year check out some of empires 3star reviews Vantage Point and 10,000BC to name a couple of truly dissapointing films. This however serves a cause, mindless violence thrown in with sex and drugs. ... More

Still not sure what to make of this movie. It's implausible as portrayed, e.g. the amorality of the leading character who without real motive or passion is drawn into an unlikely game who's players seem more like a college fraternity. It doesn't really explain any of the issues it might raise, but it's slickly done, and even at the end it's hard to judge the lead character. It passes the time, but wont linger in the memory. ... More

RE: Man, this was good! Hate me, but I really liked this.

I went this with a raging hangover, thinking "This will be dumb fun and I won't have to think too much about it". Much to my surprise, it does draw you in. Milo, although pretty, is very one-note in his performance. But where the film scores is in its inherent nastiness. Not blistering gore like in "Hostel" or "Saw" - it's a bit more subtle than that - but in the dark, twisted psychology of its leads. And that's most evident in the twist ending which is an absolute killer.   Good stuf... More

Man, this was good! Hate me, but I really liked this.

Man, Pathology is dark, savage and violent. It has gore, that perverse behavior, a lot of sex scenes and it''s shocking the first time you see it. It punches you in the face really hard. A little predictable, but, for me, it's unique. Period. ... More

Maybe not for everyone - but it WAS FOR ME!!!

GREAT MOVIE. Ok, so I like the fact that I saw Milo's bottom. But this is not why I loved this movie. It reminds me of the old thrillers when I was younger and watched them with my dad. There is something honest in this. I was really surprised how drawn in I was. I'm sure the gore turns some people off, but it seemed secondary to the story. The actor who played Jake was fabulous. There's a psychology to this film unlike others in the genre. The depravity did not undermine the lesson tha... More

Pathology review

This may well be the darkest film of the year. Not dark as in fucked up, woe is the world, evil nastyness prevails kinda dark, its way too second rate Saw for that. No I mean dark as in, someone didn't pay Powergen, put another pound in the meter, even carrot chomping motherfuckers like Bugs couldn't see what was going on, kinda dark. This lack of illumination may be a blessing because what you do get to see isn't really worth opening your peepers for in the first place. The spellcheck cursin... More
