It’s A Boy Girl Thing
Body swap comedy but with teens.

submit to reddit

Plot
Woody Deane the school hunk and Nell Bedworth the school geek, life-long sworn enemies, wake up one day to find themselves in a very strange place: each others bodies. In their switched identities it is laughs a minute as each sets about to destroy the other's high school reputation. When they start to succeed they get more than they bargained for.

Review

The body-swap sub-genre gets a new twist as Woody (Transamerica’s Kevin Zegers) and Nell (Just My Luck’s Samaire Armstrong), two teenage neighbours with a lifelong hatred of each other, wake up in each other’s bodies.

After getting used to new body parts and awful parents (Woody’s include Sharon Osbourne), the pair set out to ruin each other’s reputations — before, predictably, realising their long-simmering mutual attraction. The set-ups and situations — some scatological, many sexual — deny access to the ‘tweenie’ audience, but older teens will love it, thanks to a witty script and two gutsy performances.

Verdict
All the usual body-swap gags and teen rom-com cliches but with good performances and a sizzling script this is pretty watchable.

I was unsure of this film - but finally decided to give it a go, and was pleasantly suprised. It was better than I was expecting. The humour wasn't that in your face like some high school teen comedies. The performances were good - Kevin Zegers was slightly better than Samarie Armstrong. But overall I am pleased that I gave it a go, it was a nice watch to spend an evening. Gave me some laughs even if the genre has been done over and over and the plot was a bit predictable. ... More

School Trip at the Museum

Like most people, I was a bit unsure about watching this film, but I finally did a few days ago, and man, was I glad I did. To set the scene a bit.... I am not a 12 year old boy, I'm actually double that age, and appreciate all sorts of films, like "Pan's Labyrinth", "Donnie Darko", "Memento", "Hot Fuzz", "The Descent" and "Infernal Affairs". Yet I still found something to enjoy here. I think, like the Empire review says, the performances here are the key... they imbue their character... More

RE: It’s A Boy Girl Thing

a bad film and its not a good film. The idea itself has been done to death, the Big Book of Cliches was obviously close to hand for the writers and the girl looks way too old to still be at high school. The sort of film you can tune into half way through and catch up in about 5 mins. ... More
