Taxi 3
French cop caper back again

Plot
The Santa Claus gang continually get one over the police until the the Taxi driver steps in once again to help out his friend...

Review

The third instalment of the French car-and-cop-caper franchise is dumber than Inspector Clouseau’s dimmer country cousin, but at least it’s slightly less ludicrous than its predecessor. Once again, cop Emilien (Frédéric Diefenthal) is chasing a gang of crooks and once again, he gets nowhere without the help of stoner, souped-up-taxi-driving friend Daniel (Samy Naceri).

And to complicate matters, both men’s girlfriends announce that they’re pregnant (in two of the film’s funniest scenes). But while fatherhood and responsibility may beckon, the stunts still come thick and fast, there’s a bizarre dubbed cameo from Sylvester Stallone that serves no obvious purpose but is entertaining in its sheer unlikeliness, and an original snowbound take on the car chase for the finale. Watching it may rot the brain, but it’s still smarter than the American remake.

Verdict
Definitely amusing and fun in places.

Diminishing returns...

I loved Taxi, thought Taxi 2 was good fun, but this, I'm afraid, is rubbish. The pre-credits bit with Sly & the Yamakazi is fun, but the main body of the film has no plot and little excitement. Stick to the original ... More
