Terminator: Salvation, Push and Max Payne
Posted on Tuesday August 12, 2008, 17:18 by Olly Richards
Terminator Salvation, the fourth installment in the Terminator series has made an incredible about-turn since it was first rumoured. Fans initially showed something less than delight at the hiring of director McG and also questioned the reason to make another in the series. Then it was announced that we'd finally get to see the fabled war between machine and man. Then Christian Bale joined. Then Helena Bonham Carter and Bryce Dallas Howard signed on. Then the trailer aired. Finally, the film made a bow at Comic-Con and became one of the biggest hits of the convention, emerging as one of the most anticipated blockbusters on the horizon. You'll be able to see that whoop-inducing Comic-Con footage in full at this weekend's Movie-Con. Bring your best cheering voice. Also joining the line-up is Push, which was a surprise hit at Comic-Con. Directed by Paul McGuigan and starring Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning and Djimon Hounsou, the film follows a group of young people who are being pursued by the US government on account of having telikenetic and clairvoyant powers. The scenes shown at Comic-Con, and which will be shown at Movie-Con, displayed fantastic action sequences with characters flinging things about with the power of their mind. See it here to say you knew it way back when. Finally, for this bulletin, we'll have an extended peek at Max Payne. Based on a popular video game, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as a cop whose family is murdered. He goes on hunt for justice, with a vengeful assassin (Mila Kunis) by his side. This looks like it could disprove the old adage that no good movie has ever been birthed by a video game.

Push is the film that James was plugging as his secret tip for the top in the videblogisodes, wasn't it? Hadn't even heard of it until then, but it sounds promising.
Still on the fence about McG's Terminator, but am for the turning if this footage is as uber-mega-awesome as reports suggest. |

I can't wait to see Max Payne and Terminator Salvation, I have to catch up with the films before and play the game before going. Not sure about Push, maybe it's because the first two have really hot men! I would love to go up there and see it all but the times are silly and I can't make it! Though I bet it will be a very cool thing to see it all right in front of you. |

Max Payne looks like it will either be a great slice of popcorn entertainment or complete garbage. But Marky Mark does do running around with a gun well, I enjoyed Shooter a lot more than I wanted to. Again, Terminator could go either way, the way Franchise Re-Boots do, Batman (great) Superman (oh sweet lordy-lord, that's not pleasant) I'm most interested in Push, even if the blurb makes it sound like Professor X: The Early Years. But hey, it'll be fun to find out. |
