It's been a couple of months since we've heard anything from David Ayer's latest, the blend of cop thriller and fantasy adventure called Bright. There's now a featurette online that delves into the unorthodox police partnership between Will Smith and Joel Edgerton's officers.

Bright, written by Max Landis, imagines a world much like ours, except that 2,000 years ago there was a dark war on Earth, involving all manner of Tolkien-esque creatures, and we won – but instead of banishing the losers, we integrated them into society. In present-day Los Angeles, Nick Jacoby (Edgerton) is able to become the first orc police officer. His partner? The very human Daryl Ward (Smith).

That doesn't sit so well with most of the force – even Ward isn't too thrilled – but then they get mixed up with a mysterious wand that wields great power... And much more dangerous parties are after it.

With the likes of Noomi Rapace, Jay Hernandez, Ike Barinholtz and Lucy Fry in the cast, the film hits Netflix on 22 December, and we're promised a new trailer next week.
