You don’t need to follow a fiendish trail of medieval clues or read any runestones to see our exclusive new Inferno pic. Really, you just need to scroll this page down a bit. Look, it’s right there!

Inferno, for the uninitiated, is the third cinematic adaptation of Dan Brown’s best-selling mystery thriller series, after The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. The film reunites director Ron Howard with lead actor Tom Hanks, who will once again don the dark suit, furrowed brow, and fierce problem-solving skillset of heroic symbologist Robert Langdon. The first trailer arrived last week.

This time around he’s joined by Felicity Jones, who takes a break from rebelling on the Death Star to play new sidekick Dr. Sienna Brooks. Both are pictured in our exclusive image – possibly on the run in Florence, one of the film’s many European locations.

Langdon begins the film with no memory of why or how he arrived there – an interesting acting challenge for Hanks. “I have none of the answers and I don’t even know what the questions are, so it puts me in a hairy acting experience,” Hanks told Empire. “I can’t quite be as cool and suave as the Langdon of the previous two films.”

Speaking to Empire, director Ron Howard describes Inferno as an unique challenge for his Oscar-winning leading man. “This is the most personal of all these stories as it relates to the Robert Langdon character,” says Howard. “It’s a great performance opportunity for Tom”.

We have until October 14, when Inferno is released, to see the results of such an opportunity. But for a full set report from Florence, be sure to pick up a copy of the new-look Empire magazine, on the shelves from Thursday. Or subscribe instantly to Empire here{ =nofollow}.
