Mission: Impossible - Fallout

Based purely off the first trailer for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, it would appear that writer/director Christopher McQuarrie and star Tom Cruise are bent on delivering everything they've brought to the evergreen spy action franchise, with yet another slight ramp up in the stakes. Take a look at the full trailer below, which was teased during a Super Bowl spot this weekend.

The "fallout" of the title, as McQuarrie has already said (and the new footage outlines), is ay least twofold – there is some very dangerous weaponry about to be unleashed, but Cruise's Ethan Hunt is also facing the consequences of past actions.

He'll face trouble, not least from Sean Harris' whispery Solomon Lane, back from Rogue Nation and Henry Cavill's CIA type August Walker, who seems convinced that Hunt is trouble. But he's also got to deal with Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who seems to be on a mission that directly conflicts with Ethan's.

With stunts ahoy and the usual welcome backup from the likes of Simon Pegg's Benji and Ving Rhames' Luther, Mission: Impossible – Fallout is due on our screens on 26 July.
