Unlike Radiohead bandmate Johnny Greenwood, Thom Yorke has rarely dabbled in composing. But he's set to dive in, agreeing to write the music for Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria remake.
The film, which will offer a new take on Dario Argento's 1970s cult horror outing, will be set in 1977 in Berlin and finds a young American woman joining a famed dance company just as one of its members mysteriously disappears. As she rises in the ranks, she discovers that the dancers are hiding a terrible secret. Chloe Grace Moretz, Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson are starring, with Jessica Harper, who played the newcomer in the original, also making an appearance.
"Thom’s art transcends the contemporary," says Guadagnino. "To have the privilege of his music and sound for Suspiria is a dream come true. The depth of his creation and artistic vision is so unique that our Suspiria will sound groundbreaking and will deeply resonate with viewers. Our goal is to make a movie that will be a disturbing and transforming experience: for this ambition, we could not find a better partner than Thom."
