Described as a blend of End Of Watch and Crash, new thriller Thirty Eight (also known as .38) is looking to blend the complicated subjects of law enforcement and race. The cast will be lead by Terrence Howard, Paula Patton and Mike Epps.

The movie, set to be directed by Mike Carney, chronicles the fraught first on the job in St. Lois, Missouri for a rookie cop. After a brutal killing occurs, he discovers the bonds that tie together loyalty, work and family for cops both black and white.

Howard is playing a detective whose daughter goes missing during the night, while Epps and Patton will be cops assigned to track down the killer, neither of which are all that impressed with the new recruit. Add to that the fact that Epps' officer has family connections to a local gang leader.

Carney wrote the script with Tim Clemente and and Alexander Foard and is aiming to start filming the thriller this May in Georgia.
