Life on Mars. It sounds either promising or as if Phillip Glenister's Gene Hunt will be round to smack the living snot out of you. But for a team of astronauts including Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal, Life proves to be dangerous. Check out the first trailer for the sci-fi thriller.

Directed by Safe House's Daniel Espinosa from a script by Deadpool duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Life finds a crew aboard the International Space Station (or some future variant) receiving a specimen from the Red Planet. Their initial excitement that it contains a viable, if microscopic, life form soon turns to terror when... Well, you'll see. Suffice to say none of this lot has watched any sci-fi movie in the past. Even War Of The Worlds or Species.

With a cast that also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Ariyon Bakare and Hiroyuki Sanada, Life looks to be an effective chiller set in the unforgiving depths of space. Where we will all be hearing this crew scream. Or at least panic...

Life is due out on 12 May next year. For some alternate footage, check out the international trailer below.
