It sometimes feels as though we hear about a new Nicolas Cage role every week or so, but here he is again, about to start work on a movie. Cage will star in sci-fi thriller The Humanity Bureau.

Rob King is directing the movie, which has a script by Dave Schultz. The Humanity Bureau is set in 2030, when the Earth is wracked by the effects of intense global warming. As part of the American Midwest descend into panic during a massive recession, the government forms the eponymous agency to identify members of society it deems unproductive and exiling them to a colony known as New Eden.

Cage will be a caseworker investigating the case of a single mother (Sarah Lind) and her son (Jakob Davies), who have been sentenced to banishment. He'll have to figure out what's really going on and save their lives.

With Hugh Dillon also in the cast, the film is starting shooting now in Canada and will likely hit screens next year.

Cage is on UK screens now in Dog Eat Dog and has several films on the way, including Army Of One.
