With Hugh Jackman finally looking likely to get his P.T. Barnum film The Greatest Showman up on the production tightrope, the movie's director, Michael Gracey and the producers are building the cast. They already have Zac Efron in talks and Michelle Williams is now looking to make deal to join up.

The film is planned as an original musical about Barnum, who went from the variety touring circuit to launching the travelling circus with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Jackman has been on this one since 2009 and has Michael Arndt working on the current draft of the script, What Efron and Williams will be up to – assuming they do land their respective roles – is being kept hidden behind a circus tent flap for now.

Williams was last seen in Suite Française and won praise for her performance in Manchester By The Sea, which premiered at Sundance.

That one goes on general release in the States on November 18 but has yet to nail down a UK date.
